OUR CONSULTANTS

     Dr. Augeri is Founder, Director, and Principal Conservation Scientist for Biodiversity Unlimited LLC. He provides more than 35 years of expertise in biodiversity, endangered species and ecosystem science, conservation, policy, management, teaching, and capacity-building;, biodiversity offsets; risk and threat assessments; impact mitigation; human-wildlife conflicts; sustainability; strategic planning; non-profit and charity organization leadership, management and development; and other areas. His conservation science work with governments, international bodies, NGOs, charities, universities, and businesses spans six continents in most major ecosystems on Earth on a diverse array of issues and species related to the conservation, policy, management, and sustainability of biodiversity and threatened fauna and flora.

     Dr. Craighead is a Senior Consultant with Biodiversity Unlimited LLC with more than 45 years of expertise as a field ecologist, population geneticist, and GIS technician with decades of experience in conservation planning. His consulting services and research interests focus on aspects of conservation planning based upon focal or umbrella species: population and metapopulation persistence, gene flow, habitat connectivity, core habitat, and protected areas.  Dr. Craighead is also a Research Affiliate Professor in the Ecology Department at Montana State University, and a member of the IUCN World Committee on Protected Areas, Society for Conservation Biology, and Society for Conservation GIS.

    April Craighead brings 25 years of experience in Ecology, Evolution and Behavior. She has worked on a variety of research projects, including the American pika and climate change, plant communities, long-term road ecology, and citizen science research in the Rocky Mountains.

     Mike Griffiths brings to his clients and partners decades of experience in the conservation of large ecosystems. While most of his work has been in Indonesia where he worked in Java, Borneo and, especially, the northern part of Sumatra, he has also been engaged in Southern China and Kenya. He is formerly a Director of the Leuser International Foundation as well as BPKEL-- the government agency established by the Government of Aceh charged with the conservation and sustainable use of the Leuser Ecosystem. Mr. Griffiths brings a unique mixture of skills for understanding the role of conservation in regional development.

     Dr. Reed Noss brings more than 45 years of distinguished experience and expertise to Biodiversity Unlimited as a Senior Consultant. Dr. Noss also directs the SPICE (Science and Planning In Conservation Ecology) lab at the University of Central Florida, which concentrates on basic and applied problems in biodiversity conservation. Dr. Noss is also Provost’s Distinguished Research Professor, Pegasus Professor, and Davis-Shine Professor of Conservation Biology at the University of Central Florida and President of the Florida Institute for Conservation Science and he recently served as Vice-Chair of a Federal Advisory Committee for the U.S. Climate Change Science Program.

     Sonam Tobgay is former Minister of Tourism, has held other posts with the Royal Government of Bhutan, is currently CEO and Managing Director of Lotus Adventures Bhutan, and Board member of several charity organizations. Mr. Tobgay has been a leader in the region with numerous efforts including sustainable development of rural communities, climate change, ecologically sensitive nature tourism, Clean Bhutan, Bhutan Innovative Community, and many other initiatives.

     Dr. Wang is an expert in Conservation Science with special focus on the fundamentals of the human-environment interface and the impact of climate change on this relationship. Dr. Wang’s professional focus is centered on the dynamics of the human-nature interface (especially the biodiversity, water, and food security nexus), natural resource policy, climate change adaptation, and poverty.  He has worked as a consultant to governments, NGOs and international agencies on issues ranging from climate change adaptation, poverty, gender, and biodiversity to project developments.
